Privacy policy
Last updated: 4 November 2026
This policy covers scramline.com and the Scramline game you play in your browser there. The site and the game are run by Halfsky Publishing, who decide how the data described here is used. There are no Scramline apps yet; this page will be updated before one is released.
What we don’t do
- There is no account and no sign-in, and no cloud save. We never ask for your name, email or anything you type.
- We use no cookies except Google Analytics’ two, and only while play statistics are on (see “Your choice, by region”).
- There are no ads and no advertising tracking.
- No third-party fonts are loaded: the fonts are served from this site.
- Besides that, the only third-party code is Google Analytics and Cloudflare’s page counter (below), and only under the rules below.
What the game keeps in your browser
Your progress and settings are stored in your browser’s local storage, on your device. This data never leaves your device. We cannot see it, and you can delete it at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser’s settings. These are the keys:
| Key | What it holds |
|---|---|
heatsink3d.save.v1 |
Your saved campaign or battle: the next sector’s briefing, or the battle in progress, with the board’s seed, the units and their positions, and your squad’s soldiers (names picked from a built-in list, ranks, kit and salvage). |
heatsink3d.meta.v1 |
Your best sector and your total kills, shown on the main menu. |
heatsink3d.settings.v1 |
Your settings: sound, playback speed, graphics quality, reduced motion, fog of war by default, and whether the battle panel is shrunk. |
heatsink3d.stats.v1 |
Your play statistics choice: allowed or declined. |
heatsink3d.stats.gpc |
A marker, 1, set when you chose Allow while your browser was sending
Global Privacy Control.
|
heatsink3d.stats.notice |
A marker, 1, set once the small statistics bar has been shown, so it
appears only once.

Your choice, by region
Where the law asks for your consent first, the page counter and the play statistics start only after you choose Allow. That is the EEA (the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway), the United Kingdom, Quebec, Turkey, China, Thailand, Nigeria, Chile, Russia, Vietnam and Israel, and anywhere we cannot tell where you are. Until you choose, no statistics code loads.
Everywhere else, for example Switzerland, the United States, Canada outside Quebec, Brazil, South Korea, Japan, Australia, South Africa and India, they start when the page opens, and a small bar tells you once. OK keeps them on. Privacy choices lets you Decline.
We pick the rule from the country your connection comes from when a page is sent, and use it for nothing else.
If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, we treat it as Decline in every region: nothing is loaded and no bar is shown. If you choose Allow on this site after that, your own choice is kept.
Decline stops the play statistics at once and deletes their cookies. Cloudflare’s counter cannot be unloaded from a page that has already started it, so a Decline stops it from the next page you open.
You can change your mind at any time: the game’s Settings has a “Share play statistics” switch, and “Privacy choices” (on the main menu and in the footer of these pages) opens the choice again. A choice made in one tab applies in your other tabs.
Play statistics (Google Analytics)
When they are on, Google Analytics (Google Ireland Ltd) counts what happens in the game and on these pages: which screens are opened; campaigns started and ended; sectors won or lost, with the sector number and objective; skirmishes started and their kind; the difficulty and map size chosen; and page visits. The values are fixed choices and numbers, never names, seeds or text you type, and nothing about what is hidden on the board.
Google Analytics runs in Consent Mode: advertising storage and advertising data use stay
denied, and Allow grants analytics storage only. It stores two first-party cookies,
_ga and _ga_CHD6YFB2F3, for up to 2 years. It never gets
your name, email or anything you type. Google keeps the data for 14 months.
Cloudflare Web Analytics
Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits to the pages and the game. It uses no cookies, nothing is stored on your device, and it builds no profile of you. It gives us page-level counts only: visits, referrers (where you came from), countries, devices and page speed. It follows the same choice as the play statistics: in the regions where the law asks first it loads only after you choose Allow, and elsewhere it loads with the page until you decline.
What Cloudflare handles
The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web server, Cloudflare receives your IP address and standard request details (such as the page requested and your browser’s user agent) to deliver the pages and protect the site, and may keep them in standard request logs. We do not use them for anything else.
Ads
There are no ads. The site carries a Google AdSense verification tag and an
ads.txt file so the site can be verified, but no ad code loads and no ad
cookies are set.
Children
The game asks for no personal data, has no account and no chat, and shows no ads.
Changes
If the site or the game starts handling data differently, this page will be updated before the change takes effect, with a new date at the top.
